I owned the unit for a year and a half and finally gave up on it when it stopped playing disks after the warranty period was up and it would have cost more to repair it than the unit was worth. First of all, the positive points: The sound and the picture are wonderful. Sharp, clear, colorful, dynamic describes the picture. Sharp, clear, dynamic and spacious describes the sound. Unfortunately the machine is not very dependable. I had to send it in for repair after 8 months because the drawer would not open. Now, after a year and four months of ownership it has decided not to play disks of any sort. I insert a disk and it says "no disk" either immediately or after struggling to start. Pioneer told me that it would be just to look at it. After having had it repaired once already I do not have faith in the machine, so I just decided to buy a new machine. I am giving Pioneer another chance with the BDP 320, since I loved the picture and sound on the 51FD and it integrates perfectly with my Pioneer receiver and television. By the way, even when it was working well the 51FD was very slow loading and it had trouble tracking disks with the slightest imperfections. I am glad I kept my old DVD player, which tracks everything.
