Garbage: Cheap for a DVD player but pricey for trash. - Sinclair - San Diego, CA
I asked an electronics expert which DVD player to get in the low-cost range. He said the cheapest ones are all likely to have issues, but that if they are going to be faulty, one should figure that out in the first month of use. He was right. The Memorex mvd2015 I purchased is crap and I figured it out the first time we used it. The remote is just impossible to manage even when it is within a foot of the box and the control buttons on the box are very limited (play/pause, stop, open/close). If you don't mind the risk of having to have the entire unit replaced once or twice before you actualy wind up with a non-defective one, then it could work for you.

ATTN: Memorex personnel, if you could offer me a replacement without my having to lose money on shipping, I'd be happy to better my review.

Oddly enough, I did not purchase this item from Amazon. I selected it as a free gift for a 15-year service award at work. It's not even worth the time it took to ship. I could tell as soon as I pulled it from the box that it was poorly made but the first thing that went wrong is the power button broke so I had to rely soley on the remote to turn it on. Then, the disk tray malfunctioned and refused to stay open long enough for me to even insert a disk. I noticed Amazon has it listed as "not currently available". Smart move on their part. Good riddance!

Poor Playback Reliability - Jennifer Blankenship -
We purchased the Coby DVD-227 because of its price: .95 after rebate. However, it pauses the DVD intermittently during play. It will pause any where from 10-30 seconds. It then continues on. During Spderman 2, it paused 2 times. During 13 Going on 30, it paused 3 times. Very annoying. And, to make matters worse, the store we bought it at has an exchange only policy.

My mother always said "You get what you pay for."
