Enjoy all your favorite DVD movies in flicker-free presentation and record your favorite TV programs to disc--via the built-in NTSC TV tuner--with the Philips DVDR3355/37 DVD Recorder. Philips makes it easy to create recordings and helps eliminate any confusion over disc format with dual-media support, enabling you to use DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW discs to record up to six hours of MPEG2 compressed video on a single-sided disc. For playback, it's compatible with VCD, SVCD, CD-R/RW, MP3-CD, and MP3-DVD disc formats and the EG2, MPEG1, Divx (3.11/4/5/6.x), and MPEG4 compression formats. It also supports simultaneous playback of JPEG pictures and MP3 music, enabling you to run a photo slideshow with music playing in the background.

For setting up timed recordings, the DVDR3355/37 uses the VCR Plus+ system. All you need to do to program your video recorder is to enter the "Pluscode"--a single code of up to nine digits (but usually less)--that is printed next to each TV program in most TV guides. This unit also includes a Firewire port (also known as i.LINK and IEEE 1394) on the front, enabling you to easily connect your digital video camcorder and download video and audio directly to disc in their original digital quality.

Recording and disc editing features include chapter marker, insertion, divide, erase, manual chapter marking, one-touch record, and selectable index pictures. Other features include a 20-event, 1-month programmable recording, daily/weekly repeat recording, Dolby Digital encoding, and tri-lingual menu display (English, French, Spanish). • Progressive scan, one touch recording, automatic play list creation
• S-Video, component, composite video/audio, digital audio out, and RF
• Virtual surround, Dolby Digital /DTS Stream output
• Measures 18 11/16 x 2 13/16 x 12 1/2 inches (W x H x D)

The Sylvania DVR90DF DVD Recorder with NTSC Tuner provides DVD playback, as well as DVD recording and editing. With this unit and its built-in tuner, you can record and catalog your favorite TV shows so you never miss a frame.

The player reads DVD Video discs, DVD -R/RW discs, Audio CDs, CD-RWs, CD-Rs and also plays MP3 files. The built-in receiver gathers broadcast signals. The player provides a host of great features, including zoom (1.2X, 1.5X, 2X), time and high-speed search, subtitles, and angle change. Different screen aspect ratio selections let you view 16:9 widescreen format, 4:3 pan-and scan, and 4:3 letterbox. (Pan and scan is a means of fitting widescreen format into TV-sized format by selectively cropping the image. 4:3 letter box squeezes the entire widescreen frame onto a TV by reducing its size and adding the black boxes to the top and bottom.)

Recording features included one touch recording and six speeds of recording, for up to 10 hours of video capture. The DVD editing features include automatic play list creation, title, scene and play list creation, editing and deletion, giving you control of how you organize your video collection.

A host of output choices mean you can use whichever connection is most convenient or highest-quality. There's an RF (F-connector) in and out, for those really old TVs, and of course, standard composite A/V (RCA) jacks in both the front and rear for practically every other device. S-Video and component video output connect higher-end TVs, and digital audio output lets you send audio to most any home theater system.

For those ready to take control of their television viewing, the DVR90DF is a good choice. It fits in existing systems easily and provides a solid entry into the world of DVRs.

A Rip Off!!!! - D. Ellis - VA,USA
Ordered this item for Christmas from A company called Apc-Discs-Books. Boy was that A wrong move that I regretted doing. Product didn't work all I got was sound no picture. Then when I emailed seller they tried to say I was getting an attitude because I wanted A refund. So I contacted Amazon but that didn't help they acted like they didn't have much control over the matter even though I failed A claim. Lesson learned if something sounds too good to be true it parable is.
