I asked an electronics expert which DVD player to get in the low-cost range. He said the cheapest ones are all likely to have issues, but that if they are going to be faulty, one should figure that out in the first month of use. He was right. The Memorex mvd2015 I purchased is crap and I figured it out the first time we used it. The remote is just impossible to manage even when it is within a foot of the box and the control buttons on the box are very limited (play/pause, stop, open/close). If you don't mind the risk of having to have the entire unit replaced once or twice before you actualy wind up with a non-defective one, then it could work for you.
ATTN: Memorex personnel, if you could offer me a replacement without my having to lose money on shipping, I'd be happy to better my review.
